My Theory!!:
I think he will travel to the spirit world, and recieve more information (about what I'm not sure...). Then I think he will learn that he NEEDS the Avatar State to beat Ozai.. or at least as a back-up. But a kataang confrontal happens before he can "unlock the chakra". Meaning, they have some sort of a confession. I think he will tell her about the chakra, and his decision to open it. She will support him though, understanding its importance. I think after the final battle, somehow he will still be able to love Katara.
My theory is vague, I know.. but its only speculation..
So I'm pro-avatar state mastering. I kinda miss the epic glowing XD

I would think he would, throufg predictions of how the story turns out; they don't want to disappoint the children/people do they???

Well, here's my final speculation:
Aang might master the Avatar State, but due to how the storyline is going, I think they are implying that he must "stand up like a man" and fight the firelord while mastering all four elements.

I just had a great thought. it is so aang won't have to let go of katara! Roku was married and could love. He mastered the avatar state. So my thinking is that aang needs to relize that roku mastered the avatar state and could love. so he shouldn't let go of Katara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
