I think that the Guru is an Air Nomad, just not one that is an air bender. What do you all think?

That would be kind of awesome and it would make a lot of sense. He might of only been a n honorary one, but if he spent that much time with the air nomads he couldn't really be anything other than part of them.

But if he really is, does it really matter? I mean if he's not an airbender then i don't think it's incredabley relivant to the plot line. No affence, i think this is an interesting idea, i just don't know how it might come up in the current plot line.

Yes, but not the last air nomad. I think many of Aang's people who were non-benders survived. It seemed like the temples were just for training benders, i mean only kids who could bend were seen there. If the rest of the air nomads were actually nomads and spent their lives traveling then they may have been spared when the temples were attacked.

That would be a twist, but unlikely.

Maybe, but the Guru seems a little to real for that. If there was an imortal being I think he would be more spirit like and the creators would revel his true nature at the end of Aang's training.

The guru is just like everybody else in that he is human. This means for him to be a personal friend of Monk Kiatso he would have to meet Kiatso between when Aang was frozen and the end of the air nomads (considering his age of about 112 years). He cant be an air nomad because the ledgend tells us that unlike the other three nations everyone born into the air nomads is an airbender. He was probobly born into the earth kingdom as a nonbender, and didn't like the earthbending lifestyle; he became nomadic searching for a home that reflected himself. This is when he stumbled accross an air nomad which took him to the temples.
