About Jet.....why did he have to die? What was his real purpose for the show?? Was he innocent or evil???
I'd like to know all these things....

Jet served as three things in my book. 1) Romantic interest for Katara. Though I dislike Jetara I can't deny that she liked him. 2) Plot Device. Zuko needed an enemy and the gaang needed someone they already knew lead them to Appa. 3) Symbolism! My personal favorite out of his other roles. Jet symbolizes how the fire nation are not the only people in this war getting corrupted. He symbolizes how its hard to let go of hate, and how thoughts of revenge can hurt a person. He had a wonderful character arc Avatar is not a show of black vs. white, good vs. evil. Its a show that balances the two, with shades of grey. Jet was in the middle, a good person plagued by misfortune chose the wrong path and can't stray from it. Along with Long Feng. He shows that you dont have to be fire nation to be evil.. but we are talking Jet here. lol. So I think he was a balance of innocent and evil. His innocence is lost when he purposefully wants to hurt people, but mentally he thinks its the only thing he can do. He is criminally insane. haha

I agree completely fournation93. But I also think that Jet's memory (of his final moments and him dieing to protect Aang) is what will allow Katara to forgive Zuko.
Note: Jet and Zuko similar traits; desires to be good, does bad things out of misunderstanding and youthful pride, has the ability to change and grow.

Which is probably why they fight. But i thought Jet was more in reserve than dead, i mean i think the cretors mode it so he could come back if they needed him to. I also think Jet's "death" made him seem more innocent than he really was, instead of a "well the jerk turned out to be less jerky" ending which his charecter deserved, he got the tragic hero treatment which he probably didn't really deserve.
But, i do love Jet, if for no other reason than we got to find out what Katara does if you dump her. She did not buy the "I've changed" line at all.
Just thought i'ld mention this, Katara attacked and treated Zuko the same way she attacted and treated Jet who she had had romantic feeling towards. Does anyone see the connection?

The three thing. That's why most things come in threes, it just makes it look better. I don't know why, but it does.

He was corrupted. He is one of Avatar's most complex characters in the sense that he is neither evil nor good.. He is a nice shade of gray in the middle of it all.
Evil actions. Good Intentions.
Oh Jet.. R.I.P. XD
