All you really need to know for right now is that this happens 17 years after the rebellion lost(after Sozin's Commit returned) the Aang is dead and Ozai is still ruling except he has the whole world in his grasp. And most of the story is in Ozana's Point of view
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up with the greatest feelings in the world, because tomorrow was my Birthday. I did the routine thing. Brush my teeth(Or rather have servants do it for me), brush my hair(Again the servants), and take a shower (that I could handle on my own), then I rushed out(after getting dressed of course) to the Plaza where my mother met me for Fire bending training.
"Hello mother," i said happily and jittering with excitement.
"Princess Ozana, stand still," she commanded, she doesn’t have a lot of patients. Sometimes I wonder how I even made it past infanthood with her standing over me. She cut me out of my thought when she said "how are you going to practice that way? you are moving more then Ty Lee does"
"i can't stop moving, MY SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY IS TOMOROW" i blurted out for the world to here I looked over at a statue of Agni spewing fire from the Hands and mouth. The statue, although it was supposed to represent prosperity and perseverance, had always looked demonic to me.
"Regain you composure, we are Part of the royal family and do not move like an excited toddler." she said back after turning my head to face her. I immediately stopped moving catching the menacing look in her eye's. I wasn't about to risk punishment from my mother. The last time I had done something out of turn i was sore for months. She sighed after seeing the scared look on my face.
“Come on, don’t act like such a child, you act as if I was going to slap you” she said. I was silent. “Just get into stance.” she said after analyzing each of my eyes. I got into a horse stance and waited for further instruction.
Training was brutal and harsh. She always pushed me way beyond my limits. I didn’t mind, in fact it was her pushing that had made me the great fire bender I was at the moment. Every step of the way was hard for me. It was as if I was born to anything but fire bend. I knew I had to stay strong though, I wasn’t about to disappoint my mother or grandfather. I was going to become every bi of a fire bender as they were.
Once I left training, I headed for another shower. I was always sweaty after training and this time was no exception. On the way there I passed my grandfather. "Good morning fire lord Ozai" I said to my grandfather as cheerfully as possible while panting. A smile came to his face.
"Are you ready for your party tomorrow?" he asked.
"Am I ever" I said excitedly back. I looked into his eyes.
"I suppose you have finished training for today?" he asked leaning against the wall. He looked a little nervous. He was probably late for something.
"Yes fire lord, would you like to see what new developments I have made?" I asked eagerly. I wanted to show him what I had learned. I wanted him to see that I was as good as he was at my age.
"Yes, meet me in the war room in an hour." he said hurrying off. He had a slight limp in his right leg. The story went that he was hit in the leg by the previous avatar right before he sent his infamous green flames at him. I feel sorry for the next Avatar. Whoever he is, he’s going to get a serious beat down.
"Okay see you" I yelled to him hastily as I turned around.
I had learned a lot during practice and was ready to show him a new form. I felt the bracelet on my arm. he had given it to me for my 10th birthday(one of the many gifts of course) he said it was confiscated from none other then the runaway. He had gone further to explain to me that they had her imprisoned in the castle. I was leaping for joy when I had gotten it and now wore it all the time. It had become a nasty habit to play with it when I was thinking. I went to take a shower. I didn’t want to appear dirty when I showed my grandfather my form.
After my shower, I walked around the pond for a couple of minutes. I saw the Turtle-ducks swimming around, and thought how nice it would be to be in there with them, without a care in the world, just swimming. My thoughts consumed me and I almost lost complete track of time. Had a nut from the tree above me not fallen on my head, I would have been late!
I ran to the War room, making it just in time. Thank Agni, I would have never heard the end of it if I had been late. He was sitting on his throne, waiting for me to bow down. I realized this and awkwardly bent down.
“Rise and show me your form.” He said. I rose slowly and showed the moves I had learned. After he clapped a couple times and said, “Well done. You are learning very fast. You may leave now.” I left in a very happy mood. My practice had paid off and now I was going for a well deserved rest.
I woke up way before I was supposed to. The excitement was almost overwhelming me completely. I waited in bed until one of the servants came to wake me up. A huge crew of them came in and started dressing me for the big day.
I was getting dressed in very fancy silk robes. I couldn't believe this day had finally come. Today I would be able to enter War councils and put my input in, I would be able to banish people on my own, and most of all I could start to learn extremely advanced fire bending, which I guess could be a win lose situation. It would mean I would be looked upon as extremely gifted, but also it would increase the time I had to practice. I guess I wouldn’t mind as long as my mother and grandfather liked it.
After I was dressed I stepped into a paladin and rode over to the huge anouncment stage. I walked out onto the giant platform that so many others had walked onto before me. I saw all of my guests looking back to me I opened my mouth in preparation to start my speech when an old Sage-looking man made an anouncment. "Here she stands the next avatar before us. Bow to her." All eyes were now darting back and forth from him to me and the arena erupted in a fit of gasping.
"Impossible, the next avatar is suppose to be a water bender" my grandfather yelled.
"All signs show she is indeed the next Avatar" said the Sage looking sheepishly down. Either he was really good at acting, or someone was in big trouble.
"Oh no" I heard my mother whisper. Apparently someone was in trouble.
"This is a fine joke for my birthday," I said trying to settle me grandfather down and find a sense of humor, "and so now we can let this joke end and continue on with my speech." I sounded a little harsh at the end.
"I am afraid this is no joke." he stuttered. Aw he was afraid. He should be, my grandfather could be a harsh man when it came to me.
"Why was I not informed at her Birth?" My grandfather yelled.
"Sir it is custom to announce it when they are 16" He countered.
"Very well then, we cannot undo the past, lock her up in the palace dungeon. as for the Sage, kill him. Azula come with me." he said then turned around. Wait a second, I was going to be locked in the dungeon while my mother was going to get a stern talk from him? What did I do wrong.
"WHAT" I yelled. "YOU CAN'T LOCK ME UP I AM PRINCESS OZANA OF THE FIRENATION. NAMED AFTER YOU AND EVEN LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE. WHY WOULD YOU LOCK ME UP?"
"Because even though Roku was my grandfathers friend he betrayed him, and you have tried to kill me in a past life. How do I know that the avatar will not turn on the royal family again?" he asked with quiet vehemence.
"I am the royal family" I said exasperated.
"And so was my son Zuko but that did not stop him. Take her to the palace dungeon, and do not listen to her, she has no authority over you anymore. Come Azula and tell me again who your mate was again." he said as he left with my mother following him. A couple men came from behind me and pulled me away.
Great today sure is going to be fun. How could the best day of my life be the worst.
