Aang felt that all hope had vanished. His chance to ever win Katara’s heart was gone. As she walked in, Aang backed away slowly to his seat at the table. Toph joined him at a seat next to him, knowing that he was disappointed. As Aang sat down his heart shattered into tiny pieces. The man who was with Katara soon followed into the house. The room, feel silent as the stranger walked in. This new visitor had given everyone in the room a reason to make a face, of shock.
Katara held the man’s hand in hers. He was a little taller than she was but not by much.
As suki closed the door quietly, Katara and the stranger walked closer to the table.
“Hi everyone it’s so nice to see you all! Oh and this is my well…Boyfriend, Da-Xia.” announced Katara. Everyone exchanged their hellos and greetings to Da-Xia. Katara walked around the table giving hugs to all. Aang sat there staring at Da-Xia thinking… That name ‘’Da-Xia” it means great hero. “I didn’t see him save the world,” said Aang to himself.
While Suki was fixing breakfast, Katara was pointing to each person and told her Da-Xia who each person was. Aang was the last to be announced to Katara’s boyfriend. After she said Aang’s name Da-Xia’s eyes grew large as fresh oranges on trees. He bowed his head in honor to show respect to the avatar. There was a long pause.
As the stranger came into the light Aang could now see how he looked. The man was tall and slender. His eyes were the color of the sky when a rainfall came, and his hair was as black as night. He was also a water bender, but Aang didn’t know if he had the “Power” or if he was like Sokka.
“So Avatar Aang how long have you been with Toph?” asked Da-Xia. After hearing the question Aang snapped his head in the direction of where Da-Xia was. He looked straight at Da-Xia, with no emotion. Da-Xia though Aang and Toph were together just because they were sitting next to each other. Aang looked at Toph then within seconds the two of them busted into laughter. They couldn’t help themselves; it…was so …funny. Da-Xia looked at Katara with confusion written all over his face. Katara nodded her head back and forth then whispered to Da-Xia telling him of what was all going on. Soon the laughter died down. Aang wiped his tears of laughter away off his face and stared at “the boyfriend,” with a smile on his face. The small kitchen was silent once more, then Aang moved his mouth as in about to say something, but Da-Xia cut him off. The man shook his head back and forth in a motion of saying ‘’Yes.” Yes meaning “I know what you mean. I know it was a joke.” Aang smiled thankful that he didn’t need to explain anything. Silence was still in the air, but there was something else, it was…Breakfast!
As the meal went on there was exchanging of looks going on across the table. All of which referred to the “Boyfriend.” By all the looks of what Sokka gave to Aang, it seemed that Sokka didn’t like Da-Xia at all. Which Aang totally agreed with Sokka of not liking the stranger. It seems that no on liked the new someone in their lives.
Breakfast soon ended and Suki started cleaning up. Sokka went over to Suki to help clean but instead Aang got there first and helped Suki clean up. As this was being done the rest of the crowd went into the sitting room. Each person sat down on a cushion that was on the floor. The room was bright and open. There were colors of warm and life inside.
Finally when the kitchen was clean, Aang and Suki walked in slowly into the sitting room where they heard their friends talking. This put a HUGE smile on both of their faces. As they sat down Suki began to talk to Katara. There was so much happiness in her voice as she told Katara about the engagement. Suki told Katara how Sokka asked her to marry him. Katara was shocked to hear the great news. When the story ended Suki showed off her ring. The two of them talked, and talked, and talked.
“Oh Wow I’m so happy for you both!” said Katara. There were tears running down her face. She was so happy for them.
The boys and Toph started to get bored with “All” the talking so they left the house. Sokka went into the kitchen and wrote a note telling Suki where the rest of the crew was going. He placed the piece of paper on the table so that someone could see it. Then they left the tiny house.
Everyone was outside now and Aang lead the way to where they were going. Aang started walking up a hill that was tall and grassy.
“Where are we going Aang?” complained Toph.
“Toph we are walking up a hill, that’s where we are going.” answered Aang. Toph only just rolled her eyes. In minutes they reached the top of the hill. Sokka looked around when he was on top and smiled.
“Wow this is a great place Aang. You can see everything up here, and the Ocean is so calm today.” said Sokka. Aang agreed with him, he always liked this spot.
“FINALLY!” yelled Toph at the top of her lungs as she fell to the ground. “Well it took long enough.”
“Yeah I know!” said Sokka a little louder than normal.
“I do like this place too.” said Da-Xia. There was a pause. As Da-Xia had said that everyone noticed that this hill was a little dark and there were trees everywhere. Which means no one from the city could see them up on the hill. Sokka looked over to the sun and saw that it was setting and the sky became dark. There were no stars tonight, not even a moon. “So what are we going to do up here anyway?” There was no answer. No one really knew why they were up here. Anyway Aang was the leader to where they were going. Sokka looked over to Aang expecting for an answer. Aang gave a dark look to Da-Xia.
“Well first I want to ask you a few questions.” said Aang with darkness and hate in his voice.
“Shoot.” said Da-Xia with force. Aang gave a smile that Sokka will now never get out of his head. Aang sat down on a rock that was disfigured. Sokka and Toph were shocked in what Aang was doing. Toph gave a face to Sokka, Which what Sokka could tell by it, meant “Aang is going to be out of control.” Sokka and Toph both knew that if this gets out of hand that he will have to take Aang away.
“First question, where did you meet Katara?” said Aang. He was still looking at Da-Xia.
“That’s easy! Well of course you know that she was in the fire nation right?” Aang nodded “yes.”
“Well one day I was at the market buying fruit for my trip home. You see I was there for a tour of the fire nation with my band. As I was hurrying back to our ship I ran into a girl and knocked everything out of her hands. As I helped clean up I saw how beautiful she was. Then I touched her hand and we had a moment. That’s when I met Katara. That’s a day to never forget.” said Da-Xia, Aang said nothing. “Ok so is that all?” asked Da-Xia.
“NO!” shouted Aang.
“Ok ok sorry, please go on.”
“Ok next, what nation are you? And are you a bender?” said Aang
“Well, I’m a waterbender just like Katara, and yes I can bend.” answered Da-Xia coldly.
“Very well then I guess the questioning is over, let’s all go back down to the house and have hot cup of tea.” said Sokka.
“No. Not yet I still have one more question to ask.” whispered Aang. Everyone sat there waiting for what was going to happen next. “Do you love Katara?” There was a pause of silence.
“Of Course I DO!! I don’t know what my life would be without her. She is my light, my love, my sweetheart as always.” answered Da-Xia with soul in what he had said.
Aang was so mad that he had said this. How could Katara love someone like him, so fast?” Aang’s anger grew under his skin. Sokka looked around and noticed that there was a light coming from somewhere, but the light went on and off. He looked around Da-Xia for any source of light. Nothing. Then he stared at Aang for a second and…noticed that it…was Aang!
Aang’s hands that had the tattoo arrows on them were glowing, on and off. Sokka knew that this was the beginning of the avatar state. Before anything could get worse, Sokka ran over to the angry avatar and stood right in front of him. Sokka grabbed Aang’s hands that where raising upward, and pulled them back down to his side.
“Aang take a deep breath,” told Sokka.
It was getting worse; Aang’s eyes flickered of the blue color, Same with the arrow on his head.
“Aang Stop It!”Yelled Sokka.
Finally Aang gave a big, deep breath. Sokka helped Aang relax so that no war would begin between avatar and boyfriend. As Sokka did this Toph took Da-Xia and led him back down the steep hill. Da-Xia stopped and turned around, as Toph continued down the hill. As the boyfriend turned around his eyes found Aang’s light blue avatar eyes, Da-Xia gave an evil smile and walked down along with Toph.
Out of control Aang charged for Da-Xia, but Sokka grabbed Aang’s hand and pulled him down and held him tight. Aang started to feel better, and then the avatar state was gone. Aang was on his hands and knees looking down at the ground. Anger grew further beneath his skin. He continued looking at the ground, shaking, he had not done that in a while.
