Chapter 8

“So when do we start?” I asked eager to speed My training up. I wanted to get away from these people as soon as possible.
“Well, I am a little weak right now” Katara said frowning slightly.
“Well I’m not. We could start when ever you get your act together, but there are some things you need to learn before I relay my knowledge upon you.” Toph said sticking her finger in her ear and pulling out a wad of earwax, then casually flicking it away into the woods. Ew.
“Cool” I said no less then enthusiastic, In all truthfulness I was excited about learning another element. I had always felt a bond with earth. I touched the old earthen bracelet on my arm. “The first thing is you can’t talk back to me.” she was leading me from the group to a quieter place further in the woods, “I’ve heard enough crap from you it will last a life time.”
“I will do that.” I said back to her absentmindedly.
“Here we are.” she said pointing at a small spot in between two trees about 2 feet wide. How in Agni’s name are we supposed to practice earth bending in a place made of virtually all trees.
“Oh right perfect spot for Tree-bending. Oh wait, we‘re not tree bending are we? Or is it a new form of Eart--” My sarcastic remark was cut off by Toph.
“What did I just get through telling you?” she asked cuffing me in the back of the head. I wanted to ask who she was to be hitting the Fire-princess, but bit my tongue.
“Sorry” I said back to her.
“Now watch as you see master Earthbending.” she said cracking her knuckles. I waited, and instead of just watching the rocks come up I watched her and her stances. I caught what rocks came up in what form in my peripheral vision. What I witnessed was very remarkable. A huge hill leapt out of the ground……..or rather we sunk in. the trees disappeared, and field was made for us to practice on.
“That was incredible.” I said awestruck
“Yeah I know” she said sounding proud. “and now” she smiled widely, “we are ready for some Bending.”
