Has anyone considered that the sub bending for air is flying?

Air nation creatures fly, but human can bend the air so most would require something to catch the air they bend. I wouldn't put it past some of the most powerful airbenders could walk on air.

Unless there are multiple sub-bends of air, like there are for fire and water....

I don't think flying would be possible because like how toph learned how to bend its only a manipulation of the elements. they are using the air to help them walking on air seems impossible unless they start blasting out air from behind them.

Which sounds possible, i mean blasting air.... they could create little whirlwinds under their feet.

And how would a whirlwind allow them to fly?

Not nessarily to fly, but to appear to be walking on air at the very least. It would take a very skilled bender to pull it off though. One who has excilent balance and concentration.

no more like it would knock someone over... if something is moving around in a circular motion perpendicular to your body then it is NOT pushing up...
