Ok, so, I just thought of something. When Azulon died, they said he was the Fire Lord for 23 years. And that was around the time Zuko was maybe 8 or 10 or something. So that means Ozai's been Fire Lord somewhere around 10 or less years. Put that together, and you got at most 33 years. Well, up to this point, it'd been 100 years since Aang disappeared and came back... during Sozin's time. And here's where it gets weird, imho. Roku and Sozin didn't talk to each other for 25 years after Roku threatened him. Then, Roku dies and Sozin goes looking for the Avatar in the Air Nomads... but he escapes him, right? So, that would mean that 100 years ago was roughly around the time Roku died.... and that leaves 67 years before Azulon became Fire Lord.... but Sozin was already old by the time Roku died... could he really have been Fire Lord for ANOTHER 67 years? . . Lol, sorry, I guess it's kinda loserish of me to read this much into it.

But twelve years passed, and then..... I don't know. Maybe Azulon was the younger brother. Does it really matter?

People in Avatar (especially those who are powerful or spiritual) have been known to live long lives. And Roku was only 58 when he died, so Sozin was around the same age. They might have appeared older, but stress and responsibilty can do that. So you figured out 67 years.. so Sozin was 125 years old when he died..
125 years isn't farfetched in Avatar. Bumi is 112 or so. Guru Pathik is 150 years old. And Avatar Kyoshi lived for 230 years.

Kyoshi lived to be 230. I learned it from the Escape from the Spirit World game Nick.com hosted last February... or March.. youtube.com/watch?v=Y0O81sFlrz0
