I'm not sure exactly how many different bending arts there are, including the sub-types (even plantbending and sandbending)....?

I think there are some basic moves (like the ones Katara figured out on her own) to bend, and then in different enviroments the bending styles evolved. For Earth, there is the regular macho bending, Tophs more complex version of this (which includes earth), and sand bending. For water there is regular bending, swamp bending, and I guess blood bending (I'm not sure if that is a style or an ability). There only seems to be one type of airbending, unless people other than Aang suvived. Then for fire, ther is the normal angry stuff, the sun worriors happy bit, Azula's crazy style, and lightning.
I think that's it. Rember that each style is based of a marcial arts style so they are similar in that they are all used for fighting.

doesnt plant bending count as awter bending?
they bend the water in the plants, thats what the water swamp guy does

We really don't know that much about plant bending. Can any water bender do it or just swamp benders..... I wish there was more ditails

swamp benders bend the WATER in the plant (katara said it not me)

But you are daling with a lot less water at that point, and i'ld like to think i'm a little more durable then plants. Anyway, if avatar wasn't G rated blood bending would make you explode.

And KTW, but if you bend the water wouldn't that kind of seperate it from the plant if you don't knoe what you're doing.
