The gang go to the western air temple, which is hidden underground, thus not destroyed.
Zuko, who followed them there, hides momentarily but then shows himself after working out his plan in asking for forgiveness and the privelage of teaching Aang firebending, as Aang needs a firenation teacher badly.
But, after all the gang had been through with him, they wouldn't let him off the hook, or, at least, not until he helped defend them from the Combustion Man he sent after them.
After their battle with the Combustion Man ended, he apologizes again, this time getting the beginning of their trust, eventhough they are still not quite believing him.
They still let him teach Aang firebending, though.
