The three stop at a sales store that pirates are hosting and the pirates start to attack them, but they don't know why, until Katara later tells the other two that she stole their scroll to waterbend with, and to help Aang, so they presume a waterbending lesson.
However, do to Katara's grief, she ends up signalling Prince Zuko and Commander Zhao to knowing where they were, so Zuko and Zhao almost captured the gang, but not quite.
They got away.
Barely.
