Azula is a smart, villainous perfectionist that is in very strong power as the Princess of the Fire Nation. She pursues the Avatar mostly, until the end of Chapter 12, with the help of a few friends.
Book 2: Earth
Similar as Toph, Azula appears first in book two (excluding the end of Chapter 20 when she had a brief appearance). She appears in episode one trying to convince Iroh and Zuko to come home with her for family reasons, but is fortunately rejected as the two found out it was all a set-up. Azula pursues them, but finds that she needs help, so calls in a few of her friends who are Ty Lee and Mai. The three soon have a third target, however: capturing the Avatar, the thing she does most. She goes after the gang throughout Book 2, and finally almost beats them in Chapter 20, Crossroads of Destiny, but they narrowly escape, which makes her travel after them more, but this time with her banished brother at her side as well.
Book 3: Fire
Azula is first seen on her Fire Navy Ship heading home when she constantly tries to make Zuko feel more welcome, knowing of his doubts toward her. She still, however, goes after the Avatar, and the four decide, for a meeting for their [Zuko and Azula's] dad, to go to Ember Island, which appeared in Chapter 5. The four end up going to a party, but Azula feels left out and jealous by Ty Lee's hottness and Mai's relationship with Zuko and screws everything up for herself. In Chapter 10, she shows less interest in capturing the Avatar, but instead leads him, and the gang, right into another trap and set-up. She decides, at the end of Chaper 12, not to pursue the Avatar anymore, and that he would be back.
