Toph is a sarcastic, blind Earthbender that has a unique ability of being able to bend metal. She has a crush on Sokka.
Book 2: Earth
Not appearing at all in book one, she appears first in Chapter 6 of book two, and soon joins the gang after they realize how great she is and how much help she can offer to the Avatar. She has the job of teaching Aang earthbending. In Chapter 10, she accidentally, with her blindess, loses Appa and the gang end up going to Ba Sing Se looking for him [Appa], but discover that Ba Sing Se is a lot bigger than they thought. Toph, in the last Chapter, is able to be of much use by breaking the metal door with her metalbending powers he discovered she had in a previous chapter.
Book 3: Fire
Toph appears in chapter one as helping out the gang by being able to easily hear and plunge the two captains, into the water, but for them to soon be attacked by remaining crew members. She helps out in The Day of Black Sun by providing help to the gang in a 'useful' fashion, such as opening doors and splitting things open. Toph also gets her feet burned by Zuko in Chapter 12, by accident, but soon forgives Zuko for his mistake.
