I think that, of what Aang said in "The Southern Water Tribe", they [Momo, Aang, and Appa] are the last airbenders (since lemurs, there, fly, and Appa can fly, too and also bend with his tail).

i would think that if they find air benders elsewhere they would hopefully find lemur and bison too.

Well, aang said they were all that remained of that place, but that doesn't mean he's the last. There were enough of them that the pirate recognized Momo as a lemur but rare enough that he would be interested. i'ld say there' got to be at least one more, i hope.
