The Water Tribe is a very powerful nation, but a very small one. It mainly is divided into two groups: people of the South Pole and people of the North Pole.
The waterbenders learned first how to waterbend by the moon and how it pushed and pulled at the waves of the ocean.
There are many different variations of waterbending such as plantbending, bloodbending, and icebending, all of which are special properties in which can only be practiced and performed by certain waterbenders.
The waterbenders are one of the two nations that haven't yet fallen, and the leader of the Southern Tribe is persumed Hakoda, Katara and Sokka's father, and the Northern is persumed Master Paiku, the waterbending master.
