Well, yes, FourNations, it did, and Jet wasn't very nice to anyone, really....except the people he worked with (smellerbee and longshot and....the duke, pipsqueak, etc.)

I don't like how people talk about Jet now. I mean his "death" gave him this whole tragic hero bit when he really was a jerk. I mean he was rash, and stupid and he tried to beat up good Zuko! I don't deny that he had some good traits and was something of a cool charecter, but he was still a jerk and does not deserve to be remembered as a hero, he didn't even really save anyone with his "sacrifice."
As for Smellerbee and Longshot, there are 4 possibilities. If Jet didn't die they were captured and put in jail with him, they were captured and just put in jail after he died, they were still in the underwaterbase when it was collapsed, or they escaped and layed low after the city fell.

but i think he sorta sacrificed himself for katara and he tried to help find appa, doesnt that count for ANYTHING??

Yes, but the tragic hero normally dies to save everyone else after a life of evil doings. Jet just died, stupidly. he could of kept acting like he was brain washed and then attacked together with Aang. And he could of asked Katara to stay while the rest of the gang left so she wouldn't be riddled with guilt and would have known she did everything she could.

i don't thing they would die but i don't think they were taken prisoner either. they know how to live in the wild the could have hidden from the fire nation.

Aang didn't at first. And Smellerbee seemed a little hostile when they met again. Plus she had his brain washing to worry about, romance not the first thing on her mind.
